Executive Vice President, Chief Communications and Public Affairs Officer In her role as EVP, Chief Communications Officer, MC leads engagement with Popular’s external and internal stakeholders overseeing communications, public affairs and corporate responsibility.

Before joining Popular in April 2021, she was the Communications Director for First Lady Michelle Obama and Special Assistant to President Barak Obama.  Prior to that she held several senior communications and government relations roles at Estée Lauder Companies.  Earlier in her career, she spent five years working in Washington DC at the strategic consulting firm CLS & Associates.

Currently, she serves as Vice-chair of the UnidosUS Board of Directors, the longest serving and largest civil rights organization for Latinos in the US, and on the Board of Univision.  She is also an Advisor to the Jonathan M. Tisch College of Citizenship and Public Service at Tufts University.  MC graduated from Tufts University with a B.A. in International Relations.  Originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico, MC, her husband and her nine-year-old son recently moved to Puerto Rico after more than twenty years living between New York and Washington, DC.
