Eli Sepúlveda graduated from the University of Puerto Rico with a bachelor's degree in accounting and finance. He then pursued post-graduate studies in banking at the University of Wisconsin.

Eli joined Banco Popular in 1986 as an Associate in Management. In 1993 he was appointed manager of the Hato Rey Commercial Banking Center and for several years he served as Manager of several regions in Popular.

Eli was president of Popular Auto from April 2004 to May 2008. In June 2008 he returned to the Commercial Group as Manager of the Commercial Loan Division. Sepúlveda currently holds the position of Executive Vice President of the Commercial Credit Group and Chief Credit Officer of Popular Inc.

Eli is responsible for a commercial loan portfolio of approximately $12 billion between Puerto Rico and the United States. He oversees the commercial segments of SMEs, Corporate, Construction and Public Sector.
