Since its inception, Popular has served as an engine of prosperity by putting its customers, employees, and communities at the center of progress. This Thursday, October 5, Banco Popular de Puerto Rico celebrates 130 years promoting growth and development for Puerto Rico.
Through its history and pioneering spirit, Popular has provided Puerto Ricans with cutting-edge innovations. During the 1950s, rolling banks, fleets of buses equipped with the vital elements of a branch, brought banking services to towns in Puerto Rico previously devoid of financial services. Then in 1983, the ATH service was launched, which revolutionized the way transactions are carried out, through its network of ATMs throughout the island. Later on, the MiBanco platform launched in 1998 for PCs and in 2012 it did so for mobile devices, providing clients with first-class digital solutions.
Currently, the digital offer, along with the TeleBanco service and the incomparable network of branches and ATMs throughout the island, provides clients with a diversity of digital, traditional and self-service solutions.

As part of the celebrations of this 130th anniversary, Popular will present stories starring clients that serve as testimony of the impact of our institution in Puerto Rico. This series of articles will be published on the website www.popular.com/aniversario130. Through these stories, Popular seeks to celebrate clients who, with Popular's support, have progressed financially and positively impacted their communities.
Additionally, as in previous years, Popular will carry out its 'Abrazando a Puerto Rico' initiative, through which volunteer employees will carry out community work, benefiting more than 60 entities. The projects include debris removal, visits to the sick or elderly, repairs to structures, planting, food delivery and clothing collections, among others.
This year, the institution is inviting its customers to celebrate the 130th anniversary at the Popular Plaza in the T-Mobile District of the Convention Center. On Thursday, October 5, starting at 6:00 p.m., Popular will have DJ music, a salsa orchestra, several photo opportunities and a PopUP Market with businesses and organizations supported by the institution's business programs.
