Puerto Rico's Christmas season is characterized by how long it lasts and by the sense of unity that is experienced during that time. For more than three decades, Popular’s gift to their Puerto Rican people during this season has been its musical production, which this year celebrates its 32nd anniversary.
"The musical special has become a highly anticipated Puerto Rican tradition that marks the beginning of the holiday season on the island. This year we are proud to present 'What unites us', a piece that combines the typical tropical rhythms of this festive time. As usual, this year will be full of musical surprises, serving as a platform for new talents to have the opportunity to shine alongside established artists," said Patricia de la Torre, senior vice president of Popular’s Corporate Communications Division.
Filming starts on August 26 and will take, at least, a week and a half to finish. Some of the towns where the videos will be filmed include Lares, Cayey, San Juan, and Loíza. Moreover, the production will feature footage from many places around the island.
"We are focused on presenting Puerto Rico from different perspectives, particularly because we want those who live outside the island to enjoy its beauty. In this production we are bringing a message of family unity and, above all, remembering those places and the music that unite us as a people," said Euskady Burgos, president of the production company Cinetrix, who oversees the production.
This year the production is directed by Juanky Álvarez and, on the musical side, by Pasillo Sonoro and its president Luis Amed Irizarry along with a group of collaborators. Some of the artists who will be participating are Danny Rivera, Gale, Charlie Aponte, Miley, and Moncho Rivera, among others.
The musical special will be broadcast on Sunday, December 1st at 8:00 p.m. on the main television channels in Puerto Rico and for 24 hours through the popular.com website.
