ST. THOMAS, U.S.V.I. – As part of its commitment with community and youth, Banco Popular announced today the second edition of its now annual event, “Ultimate Flavors of the Islands.” The culinary extravaganza will take place on Friday, May 24 at the Frenchman’s Reef and Morning Star Marriott Beach Resort in St. Thomas.
Some of the best chefs in the Caribbean will offer a taste of their dishes at the Grand Tasting event. Daisy Martínez, Eric Greenspan, George Durán, Mario Pagán, Mathayom Vacharat, Mitch Cooper, and Roberto Treviño are some of the chefs that will be delighting audiences with their dishes. Tickets are now available with an early-bird cost of $55, and $45 when paying with MasterCard until May 15. As of May 16, 2013 the price will be $65.
The event will also have a space for demo kitchens and a Chefs Challenge, for which applications are now being accepted through the event’s website. The winner of the Chefs Challenge will receive $1,000 in cash. Second and third place will receive $500 and $250, respectively.
Ticket sales’ proceeds will be donated to the USVI Department of Education for the development and implementation of local culinary programs.
