The program targets businesses with two years or less of operation that have started to generate sales
Popular announced the second call of the StartUp Popular program, a powerful initiative to help emerging enterprises in the U.S. Virgin Islands succeed and grow.
The program provides business owners three fundamental elements for success: financing, business coaching, and networking events. The application period is open from March 1st through April 30th.
“For a second time, we are inviting business owners to apply for the StartUp Popular program. We are targeting businesses that began operating less than two years ago and are currently generating sales. StartUp Popular is a unique platform to support the progress of our entrepreneurs in the US Virgin Islands” said Oran C. Roebuck, Senior Vice President and Region Manager for Popular.
On April 9 , 2019, at the University of Virgin Islands, St. Croix Campus, Popular will host a business forum to present the StartUp Popular program. Participants will also receive valuable information about various tools to help their businesses.
The forum is free and open to the general public and will be from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. With both local and Puerto Rican speakers, forum topics include marketing, finance, tools for businesses, and more.
“By promoting financing, education, and networking we reinforce Popular’s vision and commitment with the economic transformation in the Caribbean Region,” Roebuck explained.
StartUp Popular offers multiple resources and benefits to its participants, including financing of up to $50,000, business coaching, and access to networking events.
During the term of the financing, participants will be able to meet with mentors on a monthly basis to strengthen the entrepreneur’s expertise. The overall coaching objective is to support the development and growth of the business and enhance the owner’s financial education and the sustainability of the enterprise.
Mentorship is available in diverse areas such as sales, business administration, marketing and human resources.
In addition to coaching, StartUp Popular provides the perfect scenario for entrepreneurs to network with peers, learn from each other, and potentially make strategic alliances.
