For two consecutive years, Banco Popular has offered a unique culinary experience with an event that gathers world renowned chefs. This year, “Ultimate Flavors of the Islands” will take place on Friday, May 30th at the Frenchman’s Reef and Morning Star Marriot Beach Resort in St. Thomas.
The event presents multiple experiences from which participants can enjoy great food and good company. Among them are the demo kitchens, a Chefs’ Challenge and the ultimate Grand Tasting.
“Ultimate Flavors of the Islands” also grants local culinary students the opportunity to participate in a Mentoring Session, given by none other than Chef Jeff Butler from the International Culinary Center from New York. Students will have the chance to learn incredible cooking techniques and exchange stories and experiences with the acclaimed chef.
“This event mirrors the bank’s commitment to education and the community. We are proud to host such a special event which its main purpose is to provide our students with a once in a lifetime opportunity to learn from amazing chefs and to serve some especially tasty dishes,” stated Antolín Velasco, senior Vice President of Banco Popular’s Virgin Islands Region.
This year’s participating chefs are: Brad Farmerie, Paulette Goto, José Enrique, Rachel Pol, Matthew Gennuso, Elizabeth Falkner, and Efraín Cruz.
Proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the USVI Department of Education for equipment and tools of local culinary programs.
