As part of its ongoing commitment to the Virgin Islands community, Banco Popular announced a one-of-a-kind culinary internship experience to two students. The internship is a result of the bank’s annual effort Ultimate Flavors of the Islands, a culinary event that takes place in St. Thomas and brings together world-renowned chefs.
This year, the financial institution decided to expand the event and offer an internship that will offer two Virgin Islands students the opportunity to travel to Puerto Rico for two weeks to take classes at the Jose A. (Tony) Santana International School of Hospitality & Culinary Arts (ISHCA) of Universidad del Este located in Carolina, Puerto Rico. The selected students will also partake in a hands-on experience working at the Intercontinental San Juan Resort & Casino under the supervision of Chef Efrain Cruz.
“Each year, Ultimate Flavors of the Islands brings together chefs from all over the world to showcase extraordinary skills and delicious cuisine to the Virgin Islands community. This year, we are taking it a step further by offering a two-week internship in Puerto Rico to two students from the community. It is a chance for them to really submerge themselves into the culinary profession and put their passion to work. We hope this opportunity provides them with an unforgettable experience that can help them on their journey to becoming a great chef”, stated Oran C. Bowry, Senior Vice President and Division Manager of Banco Popular’s Virgin Islands Region.
In order to participate, students must submit their resume to firstname.lastname@example.org by August 15, 2014. Selected students will be interviewed during the last week of August. In order to qualify for the internship, students must meet the following criteria:
