Landscapes, beaches, flora, fauna, architecture, food, in short, there are many attributes that distinguish the iconic depiction of Puerto Rico and deserve to be highlighted. With this in mind, Popular made the official announcement of its traditional photography contest, where the 13 best images that will form the 2020 Popular calendar will be selected. In addition to the publication of the photo, the winners will receive a gift card, from a well-known store, for $500. The period for submitting the photographs is from May 20 to June 9, 2019.
Being one of the few photography competitions celebrated locally, it is greatly welcomed every year. “Since we started this event in 2016 we have received over 2,000 photos, evidence of the talent and appreciation we have of the beauties of the island”, indicated Eduardo Negrón, Executive Vice President of the Administration Group.
It’s that, besides fomenting the art of photography, the exposition that the winners receive of their work is a great opportunity for the new talent as well as the veterans. Each year the banking institution prints close to 100,000 units, which are distributed to the Popular customers through the branch network around the island. “The calendar is an excellent platform for the winners due to the reach it has”, added Negron.
Those interested in registering to participate must access www.popular.com/calendario2020 to submit their photo during the period covering the submission period. Each participant can only submit one photo with the following specifications: full color, landscape format and a size from 2,590 x 1,920 pixels and 300 resolution.
During the second phase of the competition, a jury determined by Popular will select 30 finalist photos, which will be published in the Popular Facebook Album, where the public will vote for their favorites through likes, comments and shares.
Now, in the third phase of the competition, a jury selected by Popular will evaluate the finalist photos taking into consideration three criteria: the number of votes in the Facebook phase, as well as the relation to the theme and the photographic composition, criterion with the greater weight within the evaluation.
